Celebrity Equinox Cruise Ship

Celebrity Cruise Lines is establishing the Solstice class, of which the Equinox is one, as one of the largest luxury cruise ships in the world. Its design is intended to emphasize spacious accommodations. Almost 90 percent of the cabins on board the Equinox have ocean views, and 90 percent of those will feature balconies. A manicured lawn will stand on the ship's topmost deck, holding two Boche courts and a putting green. A patio on the lawn will serve drinks and cocktails. A professional glass blower will perform exhibitions of his work, and more traditional shows will be available onboard as well. The Equinox will also contain expected amenities for the Celebrity line, such as an art gallery, a library, an Aqua Spa Solarium, a swimming pool and dining rooms that emphasize Celebrity's signature feature of excellent food.

Cruises on the Celebrity Equinox Start in 2009

Because of the size of the Solstice class of ships, the Equinox is somewhat limited in the waters it can sail. (It is too large to pass through the Panama Canal.) Its initial voyages entail an Ancient Empires cruise, visiting ports in Italy, Greece, Egypt, Turkey and Israel. That will be followed by a transatlantic voyage to Florida in the fall of 2009, with stops in France, Spain, and the Canary Islands. These maiden voyages emphasize a luxury price tag, but discounts are available. The Ancient Empires cruises set sail from Rome, meaning additional accommodations must be planned for those interested. Direct Line Cruises can search for options on discounts, and on folding a cruise on the Equinox into a larger European vacation.
