3 Day Cruises From New York

Though a bustling cruise port, New York sees very few three-day cruises departing from its waters. Other locales like Los Angeles and Miami can support short weekend cruises to places like Key West and Catalina Island. New York is too far north for such brevity. It thrives on longer cruises of seven days to two weeks, with little room for anything shorter. The only real exceptions to this rule are evening and weekend cruises, which essentially sail out from New York, and then turn around and go back again. The cruise ship itself serves as the draw in these cases, allowing access to onboard restaurants, nightclubs and casinos for a resort-style weekend.

Short cruises of three days or less tend to fall into one of the following categories:

  • Dinner cruises, operated by a number of small firms, which allow onboard dining during a slow tour of Manhattan Island
  • Cruises to Nowhere from Carnival cruises, which offer two-day excursions out to sea
  • Dinner and Dancing Cruises from Norwegian Cruise Lines, which offer both two-day voyages and voyages of a single evening.

Discount Prices Are Available on Three-Day Cruises Departing from New York

Both Carnival and NCL list New York as a central locale, with several ships in each company calling it home. That makes it easier for them to offer cruises of less than three days. Prices tend to be a little higher per day, but come at a discount overall when compared to longer trips departing from New York. Direct Line Cruises works in the New York area and can arrange for brief weekend cruises.
